This is my latest toy.. MDA Vario II by T-mobile.. Highly recommended by me... really useful PDA.. goes by the name of HTC Hermes, HTC TyTn, Vodafone VPA Compact III, Vodafone 1605, or Cingular 8525... (i know!) Whatever it is, its pretty darn good.. Wi-Fi + 3.5G (3G with HSDPA)!

Waking dear owner up at 8:50am (konon!).. reminding the bastard that he has to wake up for college even after a thousand snoozes.. then have to brief him through what he has to do the whole freaking day... not alot of work actually, considering that his day is usually not very busy, just about 5 appointments daily.. luckily, weighing in at 180+g, i am still light enough for my weak owner to carry around in his jeans pocket.. and thankfully, I am still considered new and fragile to be mixing around with his keys and coins.. As and when my owner is bored and falling asleep in the lectures, I would be toyed around with using my WiFi and/or 3G network to surf the net and to check emails.. In addition, I have the joyous task of keeping track of london's weather considering that it is more unpredictable than a girl's cycle.. OHH! sometimes, I would be called upon to do specialized stuff like microsoft word (mobile) and excel (mobile).. and handwritten notes too!! But, oh well, just like my owner, I dont have a good 1st impression.. have to subtly demonstrate the wow-factor in me.. ppl scoffed at my bulkiness, but ppl dont know the power of the extendable stylus in me! <--- hmmmm, who cares! no hidden meanings!

How irreversible are things? Even those irreversible chemical reactions are technically reversible, just that the reverse reaction is just too insignificant.. Plastics too.. not all plastics break down and turn into irreversible pile of mess at high temperatures right? (they are called thermoplastics btw) Alright, i concede.. a twisted metal slinky is indeed irreversible cos even if you could untangle the twisted parts, the slinky would still be deformed and unslinky-like.. (don't try this at home, I had 1st hand experience... lol)

Why would one reverse a decision then? is it because one's circumstances had changed and at such, the previous decision would have been null and void? Why even make such a decision in the first place? Decisions are like slippery slopes.. you can only live to regret them..

Eastern Europe Trip: Part 1 of 3

I'm gonna split the eastern europe trip to 3 parts..

Map courtesy of google map.. pardon me for the crappy illustrated route.. i'm not a very graphical person.. BAH! we arrived at Salzburg (Austria) from london.. from the map, we travelled clockwise to Munich (Germany), Prague (Czech Rep.), Budapest (Hungary), Bratislava (Slovakia), Vienna (Austria, not on the map but its near Bratislava), then ending at Graz and we flew back from there..

I dont feel like blogging every detail of the trip but just the interesting events.. 1st day... arrived at Salzburg, birth city of Mozart, and suemay and i found out that the budget accommodation recommended in the book is not that anymore! LOL! was pretty embarrasing coz we had to pay to take an elevator up to a hill and when we had arrive, the mountain huts were missing! I had even ask a waitress at a nearby cafe... not such a great start to our trip!

2nd day.. nothing much.. 3rd day went to munich early in the morning.. finished munich in 1 day as we didnt want to spend a night there coz of the worldcup-hyped-accommodation-expenses.. travelled overnight train to prague.. spent 2 nights in the scenic prague.. watched black light play.. basically a play with creative usage of UV-reactive materials..

Then from prague, we travelled on another overnight train to budapest.. met a guardian angel (will blog more about it in the 3rd part) got my wallet pickpocketed.. luckily that guy only took my money and left my wallet beside me.. cant believed it.. happened between 5am and 7am when we were asleep.. was barely sleeping the whole night and when i thought it would be safe to sleep as the dawn is breaking, it strucked.. grrrrrr... anyway, budapest is actually made up of 2 towns, buda and pest.. Cant remember which is which but 1 of it is really hilly and the other is really flat.. haha

stayed just a night at budapest.. kinda rush.. went to bratislava.. thats the city i least like.. can feel that the city is rebuilding.. its has a very rural feel to the city with some bits of modern stuff.. all kinds of foreign cuisine but very little local cuisine available.. next is vienna.. I love this city.. huge and nice.. a lot of cultural stuff to it.. the city centre is really nice.. cobbled roads everywhere and very pedestrians friendly.. relatively expensive city but still cheaper than london..

ahh.. its 2am now.. 6 hours till MAS counter is open.. and 10 hours till the next flight to Malaysia..

oh yea, to whom it may concern.. I am bringing this up to avoid any confusion.. I am not dating suemay nor there is anything going on between us.. I am pointing this out coz mel, my housemate(s), my friends and my mom asked me, directly or not.. =)

Was supposed to be on the MH001 flight back to Malaysia at 2200 on 14th July 2006.. I was suppose to be rushing back for my internship starting 17th July.. had to cut short my trip with my parents and sister coz of the internship.. was suppose to go edinburgh with them as they are in UK for my sisters graduation.. there were 8 of us on the standby list @ the MAS counter and they had only 6 fucking seats left.. and I'm the 7th on that list.. havent had dinner yet at 2200.. FINE!

Place: Arrival Hall

Situation: Lost

Was looking for something to eat.. departure hall sux! have to go to arrival hall to get some food.. sat down at a cafe.. asked for a menu.. was told the kitchen had fucking closed.. snapped at the waitress (not! i wished tho..) went to mark & spencer.. treated myself 2 boxes of sandwiches and a box of "biggest sweetest juiciest" cherries.. queued up to pay.. was spoken to in korean by this korean girl.. (which part of me looks like korean? besides my small eyes, black hair, chinese-looking, and looking lost with my 26kg luggage and my sister's laptop and my reebok bag) then i told her i dont speak korean.. she smiled and said "its alright then" in english.. What the hell? so I'm not korean and you just dont talk to me? and if i am korean, what would be question be? Ahhh... korean sux! except Kim Tae Hee..

was thinking how to entertain myself till 12noon the next day (coz the next freaking flight is then).. was looking around for free internet.. tried to unplug a wired connection but unsuccessful (LOL).. was looking for wireless internet (lucky I have my sister's laptop).. found T-Mobile wireless.. too weak signal.. went on a mad adventure to get the best signal.. placed my luggage on a trolley and switched on the laptop and went around the arrival hall.. after scanning the whole hall, i could only receive fair signal at best.. decided to go to the departure hall... found excellent signal but only transmitting packets without receiving! found another wireless connection! but costs 12pounds for 24 hours.. ahh.. cant be bothered already.. made myself comfy at a corner with excellent signal and paid with my credit card..

Seasonal changes..

was reading the "nightfall" entry @ may's blog and it got me thinking.. alot of changes happened/will happen during each changing of seasons.. and every year (i know i'm only in my 2nd year in uni, but i'm hypotesizing!) winter-spring change would bring about happy situation and sticky situation.. this is the time where we have relatively more free time than the usual term time, and especially since m-night is over.. this is the time when the day starts to get longer and the sun sets only at 8pm.. this is the time to travel around europe, knowing that we have to start studying immediately after that coz exams are right around the corner.. this is the time where lovebirds come together (uh-huh).. and this is also the time to find ur housemates for next year..

funny how 1 year could have so much difference.. this time last year, i was worried sick about mel.. this year, i'm still thinking about her, but it just felt different.. feeling less "pressured".. this time last year, i'm certain i did study more.. somehow this year, i've lost the drive and motivation to work.. i'm missing someone who will actually force me to do some work.. this time last year, housemate issue was non-existent, everything was cosy and rosy.. yet it is quite a sticky issue this year..

*interrupted by a certain someone who came to my room and chatted till 630am*

waking up at 845am during holidays just meant 1 thing - something bad is going to/has happened.. for me this time, it waking to prepare for a telephone interview.. for a summer internship back home in malaysia.. guilty party *ahem ahem* P & G..

lasted for 45 mins.. and i cant even remember the guy's name, the one who interviewed me.. all i remember was that he's a United fan.. he asked me to describe a situation where i've encountered difficulty and how did i approach and solve it.. I told him about the great adventure that me and tock encountered last week at OT.. =)

after all that, it left me in a half-awake half-sleepy mode now.. just finished watching the dvdrip of Goo Goo Dolls live in Buffalo on 4th July *gasp* 2004.. but that live concert was a bomb.. so said guan.. really superb sia..go mininova.org and search for goo dolls.. there will be 1 dvdrip and the other is the album of audio recorded at the concert.. trust me, get the dvd and u wont be disappointed!

well well.. i will have about 2 weeks free before my parents come over to UK for my sister's graduation... and i dont plan to rent somewhere for 2 weeks and bump ard doing nothing.. and so, i'm thinking to backpack somewhere in europe (or maybe russia?).. and really budget backpacking... hungary, czech, austria, slovenia, croatia, somewhere there? anyone with experience/photos please comment.. i'm looking for 1 or 2 ppl for company too.. =)

and oh ya, w810i is pretty good... 2 things that i've noticed about the phone that i dont really like, the phone doesnt have a cover for the camera lens and the directional pad in the centre squeaks a little when depressed... making it feel like a toy, if u get what i mean.. besides that, its a great phone.. check out those photos that i've posted.. those are taken using the camera on the phone.. pretty good i would say.. =)

the writing has always been on the wall... (sounds familiar? okay okay, no lame jokes..)

alright, on tuesday, I was informed by a fellow manchester season ticket holder that he has 2 spare tickets for a match on friday.. i've gotten tickets from him before, so he's a reliable source.. the only thing is how he's gonna pass me the tickets, coz the last time around, he got his friend to pass me the ticket at Old Trafford (OT, Man Utd stadium) but this time, his friend couldnt make it too (hence 2 extra tickets).. he told me too that his friend is holding the tickets and would have him contact me for the collection.. Immediately after that, i booked the coach ticket to manchester to try to get fare as low as possible...

the next day (wednesday), his friend called me telling me that he's in chelsea area (which is very close to where i am staying in london) BUT he forgot to bring his tickets! alright, i thought it would be fine for him to post it to me and i'll collect it the next day or even the day after.. but he could only post it the on thursday as the post office would have closed by the time he's back home.. On thursday, he called to tell me that the tickets would not be able to reach on friday becoz *gasp* its good friday! argh... we're not meant to get those tickets! but we've already booked the bus tickets.. well... too bad then, we'll have to find a way to watch the match at OT, preparing to pay over the odds for the tout tickets (illegal, but its the only way? )

that fateful friday arrived, and we're on the 830am bus to manchester, arriving at 130pm.. we treated ourself to a chinese buffet, knowing that it could be the last rewarding activity in manchester before suffering in misery.. after lunch, we head towards OT and we started looking for tickets.. I guess we must have "desperado" printed on our forehead coz as soon as we were in the vicinity of the stadium, we were approached by touts, offering a staggering £150 per ticket! fine! it was 3pm.. and the match is at 745pm.. i know we're TAD early, but no need to shock us with that OMGWTFCISYF price! we tried to calm ourselves and went to megastore (man utd merchandise store) to look ard, but at the corner of our mind, we knew that we may not be able to watch the game after a 10 hours long return journey!

its depressing...................... i know............ bear with me (LOL, i know what u're thinking) this story has many twists... We then head to a bar and just try to chill... there we met 4 irish guy who told us that they met up with someone who was trying to sell tickets at another bar.. the thing is that the bar has exclusive entry.. meaning that u need a man utd match day ticket to enter.. OMG, who is that retard who is trying to sell tickets inside a bar where everyone must have a ticket to enter! and who are the 2 morons who are trying to find that retard? US! lol... but sadly we were denied entry into that bar for obvious reason (duh!)

we were too embarrased to re-enter the trafford bar (the previous bar) and we just sat opposite, trying our luck asking passersby for spare tickets.. we even had our advertisement! haha

We spent about an hour or so with thousands of ang moh passingby and giving us weird looks.. we had a few touts walked past and offering us the tickets from a price range of £60-£100 each.. we weren't willing to shell out that much and we sat around until a guy came and ask how much we're willing to offer.. we told him £40 and he seemed abit too eager to sell his.. he took our money and pass us the ticket and left in a hurry.. i checked the ticket immediately and found out that it was a child's ticket! i ran after him and wanted a refund.. reluctantly he offered to return £20 and "taught" me how to cheat and enter as an adult... so current situation: spent £20, a child's ticket.. hmmm after consulting my "accomplice", tock, we decided to upgrade it to an adult's ticket thru proper means by going to their official ticketing counter.. i'll leave the details of this part out, but, in the end, we were ecstatic coz we managed to convert it to an adult's ticket without extra costs! =)

so we're halfway to achieving our goal.. and now we need another ticket.. luck has it that a season ticket holder was walking past at the same place where we were "begging" before.. and, like other honourable season ticket holders, he sold us his extra ticket at face value! how lucky was that? damn those touts! but hurrah! we're going to watch the match at last!

but this story does not has a fairy-tale ending! man utd drew 0-0 with the "almighty" sunderland and the title dreams 2005/2006 evaporated then if not before.. it was really a emotional rollercoaster ride.. maybe we're just not meant to make that trip.. SIGH..

(i know, we're going spain, but wtf!), had to book another flight which costs alot more, waited and worried for almost 2 hours for the rented car, the car stalling 30 times a day becoz it was on 3rd gear all the while (lol, i'm not the driver, mind you!), driving in the other side of the road in a non-english speaking country, manoeuvring around cities with more 1-way streets than... than... 2-way streets? got our car broken into and left with a bag, 4 jackets & 150 euros after we left the car for a grand total of 15 minutes

i feel like a mice hunter these days.. at night, esp just b4 i sleep, i swear i hear mice running ard in the room... those stupid mice enter my room to hide behind the mini fridge for warmth i suppose.. even after countless of their comrades got trapped by the mice glue i've strategically placed ard the house, they'll still be ard *grrr*... they are such stupid creatures.. but they'll still try to defeat u by their sheer number.. reproduction (aka d*ck) is their only weapon while we human use wit and guile..
example of their stupidity: A trap was placed along the shortest route from my door to the mini fridge in the room... as i was about to fall asleep, i heard some squeaking and 1 mouse was caught and annihilated (literally, no joke).. then i placed another trap at exactly the same place... and i was just about to fall sleep again, another stupid mouse got trapped.. thats 2 in 15 mins at exactly the same place... that was the last of the mice trap we have in the house and i think there's 1 more that night! grrrrrrrr!
uggh! I'm not proud to be born in the year of the rat! *dumbass stupid creature* but if u compared it with ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, chicken, dog, and pig.... well, the rest are even more dumbass to begin with.. (no offence! hehhe)

to be fair, those mice are pretty cute... the smallest i've caught was about the size of msian 50sen coin while the biggest of them all is, err.. quite disgusting... its not that our place is filthy, its just that some freaking mouse bitch just gave birth to a litter of the mice army and hence, causing a commotion in our lovely flat..

we just got our electric bill the other day and we got a shock! our electric bill is obscenely high.. london energy billed us an average of 50 kilowatt hours daily... that is equavalent to switching on 50 bulbs of 100 watt for 10 hours continuously... isnt that mind-blowing?! come on... i know we do leave our corridors light even when we're sleeping.. but still, 50 KWhour is crazy!

lets be realistic.. we have a fridge which is switched on 24/7... beside that, we dont have anything else! our heating are powered by gas.. we do have washing machine and dryer, but how often do we use? once a day max... yeah, our hobs are electric powered, but we cook for an hour or 2 max... we have a grand total of abour 20 bulbs in our house and we dont leave it on all the time... so how the heck did we chalk up an average of 50kilowatt hours daily?

we're gonna bug london energy, telling them that their meter is at fault! hah! i hope everything will turn out alright.. *cross fingers*

Blue Man Group!

BMG.. they are so cool and funky man.. matt, logan and i went to watch them on thursday night and we got the "wet" seats.. haha its cheaper and well, u're in the thick of action from the splashings and stuff.. these 3 blue man are basically entertainers.. playing musics instruments like stomp but abit more rock and techno.. doing tricks like clowns but alot of creativity and skills.. they introduced weird whacky ideas, using different styles and approaches (sometimes disgusting) to entertain the crowds.. haha

i like a particular section where they used unconventional ways to produce pieces of art.. haha one of the blue guy was throwing golf-sized balls filled with paints and marshmellows into the other 2 blue guys mouths at the each end of the stage.. the guy with paintballs crushed them in the mouth and directs the splash onto a piece of canvas.. then he spun the canvas rapidly and squirted some paint, forming a spiral trail of paint! cool! (u all can see the photo later).. oh ya.. and the other guy... i swore that guy stuffed 20+ marshmellows into his mouth.. and he didnt just stuff them.. he caught each of them that was throw from the middle of the stage!! then he just remove the "sculpture" that was formed due to compression of extreme numbers of marshmellows in compact space... disgusting!

hahaha after the show as we're leaving the theatre, we saw the paiting on sale and matt instantly bought it.. it was £25.. but its really quite meaningful i guess... and the proceed goes to charity.. haha he then got the 3 guys to "sign" on his shirt..

i have nothin to do but STUDY.. no i have a lot of things to do actually but i HAVE to study...

had my 'genes and society' paper today.. a little disappointed by it cos some of the questions were on facts that i confidently decided to browse through..
i should have guessed.. i mean there were 100 mcq questions.. surely they will be running out of questions to ask by the wat.. 75th question?
silly me.. after the paper, i decided to return to hall to have lunch with mandy and wooimin...
i was daydreaming while walking and before i knew it i was stuck in the middle of a heated discussion-cum-debate among a group of indian (i presume) scholars from faculty of engineering..

i was like "whoa!" and got out of the mess as soon as i can..

its easy to judge whether a paper was difficult or not..
by looking at the reactions of the indian scholars in your faculty who always appear to sit at the front row of every lecture and ask questions you dont even comprehend..
hmmm, judging by the way the were debating, i guess the engine paper was really tough.

Ahh... its only the 2nd year of my 4 years course in IC.. and it has already struck me to plot my path for the future.. i guess many would be agreeable with me that there's basically 2 path from graduation on..

1 leads to a professional career with some MNC while the other leads to entrepreneurship...
1 has a path all charted out for u right from the start while the other is akin to running into wilderness hoping to find the magical pool hidden in it..
1 provides u with financial securities while the other supports u as long as the magical pool doesnt run dry..
1 allows u the peace of mind, knowing that u would be earning RM/SGD$/£ X where X would be correlated with ur age/seniority while the other can range from -Y to Y where Y is a real number.
1 you work like crazy to meet some deadline while the other works you like crazy to come out with something innovative
1 where u'll only say "good morning boss" while the other you'll only hear "boss, good morning"
1 where u'll have to work 9-5, 5 1/2 days a week, while the other 24/7, at the comfort of ur home..
1 where ur deadline is more important that ur sweetheart while the other u can enjoy the company of ur dear everyday..
1 where overseas travel would be obligatory business at Tokyo while the other would be a welcomed break for 2 at Maldives..

exhibitions

yest was a day of exhibitions.. austen, mandy and i we went for this presentation by architecture students from Harvard at armenian street. the students are doing masters in harvard and they are given the assignment to design a building that would respond to the environment and culture in singapore. its pretty interesting knowing that these students are foreigners and they had to design based on their own interpretations and findings about a country they do not know very well.
there were ard 11 of them and they presented their schemes and explorations and intentions to a group of critiques in Singapore and also us, the students. then they would be asked questions and their schemes would be scrutinised.. i found their way of presenting very interesting and different. the room where the presentation was held was just a simple concrete rectangular room..yet somehow it was appropriate to the mood of the event. the students hung small colourful lenses across almost the entire room.. and each of these lenses contains pictures of singapore, explorations, first impression etc.. basically the processes involved in each schemes.
i had fun lookin into most of the lenses as the experience involved was different in each of the lenses as each was tryin to convey a different message. niwei.. below are some pics taken
after that we went to another exhibition along orchard road...somewhere near borders.. its a simple exhibition of photos taken around the world.. photos of beautiful landscapes and certain activities that we never knew existed. the photos were really beautiful... only took a few snaps at those which interest me..

one thing i really hate about people especially FEMALES is the lack of practice of hygiene in places like the toilets. i went to the toilet on my level almost everyday to find little 'decorations' or 'work of art' either on the seats, the floor of the cubicles or the toilet bowls themselves.
these 'toilet artists' most probably found their work of art so interesting that they felt it must be shared among those people who stay on the same level as them. unfortunately, not everyone appreciate that type of art you see. i would bow to you if you do.
its really hard to imagine how can a girl pee on everywhere but the toilet bowl itself. perhaps the toilet bowl izzint big enough to accomodate her poor sense of aiming. even if you do haf such poor sense of aiming, at least have the decency to wipe it off after you're done cos its so yellow that no one will mistaken it as drops of water remaining after the cleaner's done with her toilet cleaning.
sometimes she's bored with decorating the toilet seats with only one medium. so she decides to be more creative in her works and tries a different medium.. perhaps a darker colour to contrast the whiteness of the toilet bowl. and here i thought shitting all over the sides of the toilet bowl is impossible! there... she's proven against it. **applause**
wooimin said she saw a used sanitary pad being stuffed into the toilet bowl today. ok.. now, the 'artist' found a way to fully utilise her sanitary pad. maximising the use of a sanitary pad by turning it into an exhibit in the toilet cubicles after she's done with it.
argh! mandy, wooimin and i are so so damn curious to discover the identity of this artist! i mean, for such great works she must be given some credits right?
i could have been more disgusting by posting some of the pics of her works... but i decided i wouldnt want people to throw up reading my blog =)

Just back from Nottingham games.. its a annual sports meet in uni of nottingham for malaysians in UK.. disappointed la.. i'm suppose to be playing volleyball.. sigh.. I forgo basketball this year, thinking that i would be selected for volleyball.. but thats not the case.. sigh.. in the end went to notts as a supporter only.. =( SOB! seeing the basketball team playing so well hurts even more.. i've promised myself next year to play basketball and nothing else! i would start training for basketball and be good in it.. hahah (konon) i've been playing football so much that i cant even score a basket.. sigh.. i think i cant jump as high as before, cant run as fast and as long as before.. cant move as swiftly as before.. signs of ageing? or just growing fatter? haha
liwan recently bought a weighing machine and placed it in the kitchen.. and the kitchen is just 5 steps away from my room.. so i've been weighing myself almost everyday.. before and after dinner usually.. haha and my weight is hovering ard 71kg? sometimes after football it can drop till 68.. and after a full dinner can reach 73.5kg.. .scary eh?
been thinking about summer next year already... thinking about internship and such.. and my sister's graduation is in the summer.. so i guess i'll be hanging ard in UK till mid july.. means my effective summer break back in malaysia would be shorten by a month.. sigh.. i guess i would have to find a job in uk for a month then see how later.. but from now till then, i think its best for my to prepare my pathetic CV and see if any company wants a coolie for a couple of months.. haha.. maybe i could offer my manpower for free, then see if they would even consider..

just a few pics on what i had been working on for the past 6 weeks.. its a design of a clubhouse for painters.. submission of project was yesterday.. felt like a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulder =)

i really owe everyone an apology for not blogging for so long.. my last post was (gasp!) almost a month ago already... sob sob!

i'm getting lazier by day... thinking of ways to slack rather than to finish my work! haha..

i'm so lucky that my 1st coursework of the year is computing... this computing assignment is done in pairs and we're suppose to manoeuvre thru lines and lines of codes to get our output.. it started with 2 lectures for the 1st week and then we're on our own.. meaning can slack! hahah so as long as you can come out with something and hand in on the friday of the 3rd week then *tah dah* done.. =) and sadly this coming friday is THE day..

well.. at least it got me to start work... and i will be having pilot plant next week onwards... meaning i'll have to wear my lab coat and hard hat to college at 9am everyday for 3 weeks! thats a real torture.. sob sob..

anyway, enuf of academic stuff... now for HALLOWEEN! hehehe my house is having a house warming cum halloween party.. its a costume party... hence everyone is expected to wear some costume or some make over... hope it'll turn out well.. (photos will be added later)

oh! i'm suffering from internet withdrawal symptoms... its darn irritating not to have internet connection where you stay! and the reason is that we havent even apply for a regular phone line for our flat! and that is because the retarded previous tenant did not terminate their phone line and i'm guessing that they didnt even pay the bills... hence the stupid telco refuse to release the line unless we show them the proof that we're the current tenant... of course we did, but their freaking useless customer service is sooo slow to process our complaint.. SHEESH....
